what time is everything starting

We anticipate starting at 4pm on Saturday on the Monhegan House lawn (if weather permits. If not, we will be inside).

what's the wedding hashtag y'all?

#MarriedOnMonhegan for all you insta nuts.

hotel reservation

We have secured everyone the off-season discount rate, and you can book your room via calling or emailing Monhegan House at (207) 594-7983 / info@monheganhouse.com

The Day Before

Coming to Monhegan on the Friday is encouraged and your room reservations begin Friday at 2pm! (We are also hiring a bus - see below- to drop people off at the ferry port on Friday afternoon) For those of you who will be here, we're planning a casual pizza get together with some local beer from the Island.

ferry

Ferry options include Balmy Day Cruises from Boothbay Harbor,  Monhegan Boat Line from Port Clyde, and Hardy Boat Cruises out of New Harbor. All of them are a 1.5 to 2.5hr drive from Portland and some offer free parking -  we recommended Hardy Boat. FYI you must book in advance! For those of you wanting to use the hired bus, please book the 2pm Friday ferry and the 3.15pm Sunday ferry with Hardy Boat.

bus for guests

For those travelling from abroad, or those without cars, we've booked a bus to take you to and from the ferry terminal. It will pick you up from Portland Bus Station in Maine - while Boston Logan is the closest international airport there are some quick buses and trains that take you from Boston to Portland!

OUTBOUND
Pick up is on Friday Sep 7th, 11.15am at Portland Bus Station. It will drop you off at New Harbor in time for the 2pm ferry!

INBOUND
The bus will meet you at 4.15pm at New Harbor (so book the 3.15pm ferry) and take you back to Portland Bus Station, arriving at 6pm ish!

anything we should know if we are driving to new harbour?

Yes! The parking lot for the Hardy Boat ferry is a 5 minute walk away from the ferry terminal. We recommend driving straight to the ferry dock and unloading all your bags (their staff will watch them) and then going to park the car and walk back.

Also: the final turn from Bristol Road to Route 32 is very easy to miss! It almost looks like you're going down someones drive, but it's just a narrow road. (Plug in directions on your phone before you leave Route 1, as your phone signal will disappear at some point on Bristol Road).

what's the dress code?

Whatever you feel comfortable in! Conor will be wearing a suit, and Rosie will be in a nice dress. It's not white, so please feel free to wear white if you want to! If the weather is good then we are hoping to have our opening hand fasting on the lawn—so stilettos are probably a bad idea.

We are not sure if Monhegan House has irons, but Rosie and Conor will have a handheld clothes steamer on the Island. We will try and drop it at the front desk of the hotel on Friday!

is there an open bar?

Monhegan House isn't licensed to sell alcohol, so we are bringing a ton of alcohol ourselves! Expect red and white wine, prosecco, homemade beer, Maine Beer Company brews, mezcal margaritas, and authentic polish vodka.

Gifts

We'd be delighted to have you at our celebration, and your presence is definitely more than enough. For those of you who prefer more traditional gift-giving, you can see our honeymoon 'registry' here.

what should we pack?

Monhegan will likely be fairly warm during the day (we're hoping for a nice 23°c), but it can cool off quite quickly at night—so bring some layers.

Otherwise, some things you might need: bug spray (lots of midges...), swimsuit, walking shoes, refillable water bottle, torch (if you are staying somewhere other than MH), any medications or emergency things you might need.

what about accessibility?

We will have an ASL interpreter on the island. If you would like to learn to finger spell your name in ASL, then this is a great resource.

Monhegan has no cars or paved roads. But it's so small that we are hoping that walking as the main form of transportation will be manageable for most of our guests. The longest walk one would have to do is from the ferry to Monhegan House—about 10 minutes, with one small hill as you immediately get off the ferry. Otherwise, all the hiking trails etc. are optional!

Monhegan house has fridges for guests if you need to keep medicine cold.
